first post in awhile

so it turns out 5 studio classes and 30 hours at a retail job may be a bad idea. I'm cutting back next semester. I only have 3 pieces I'm proud of this semester. One of them being the last headdress piece I posted (Felchie, my muse, was what inspired me to make it so good. She is incredible!)

So I've had this idea for a westward expansion/steampunk idea for a few months and am doing some illustrations and writing a story about it (if anyone wants to collaborate I''ll be more than happy to share credit). Anyway these are the first sketches of the piece I'm doing for break. More to come this weekend.

working on the final drawing/piece

soooo this is working on the final version. I only developed the smoke stacks and tesla coils so far. I will try to add at least the steam engine component tomorrow.

oh and here's my gingerbread man piece for my illustration methods class. It has to do with my fear of food with faces (gingerbread men, cakes with the photo icing stuff, chocolate molded lolly pops with faces like santa etc.). Like if i see them in a story  I don't care. Try to eat one though.... ewwwwwwwwww. It's like cannabalism idk lol. I know they aren't really alice but its just disturbing on an intellectual level. Anyway heres the drawing for it. It's made with graphite, watercolor, gouache, marker and white out.

headdress no. 11

Sooooo i totally just started some new pieces for class. My teacher loved the concepts, especially the headdress piece. Its based on the industrial revolution and involves elements of Tesla's machines, steam power and smoke stacks and architecture of the time. The beautiful girl in I used as reference was my muse Felchie. I really enjoyed working with her and will continue to for as long as she can stand me :P

final joker and lucifer painting

So I was on the train tonight after a FABULOUS meet and greet with a model, and i met this young lady on the train that let me borrow her pen. So I started sketching designs for the secret painting I'm doing... its a painting of lucifer! (I suck at keeping secrets I guess) So heres the sketches and thumbnails I did, let me know what you think.

some stuff in the making...

Ok so heres new stuff i've been working on aside from the TOP SECRET COMIC I'M WORKING ON!!!!!!!! .... (don't tell anyone you read this)

Ok so the first is a giant painting I'm going to do based on the Abduction of Persephone. it has been done several times in art history but Hades is always bad guy in a black and white clear cut sort of way. Now, in the real world we do this as a simplification but we also know that there are two or more sides to every story. I researched the characters of Hades and Persephone a big, the story of the abduction and extrapolated some personality traits from them. I have some personal issues in my life right now that led me to this story and the main theme in the piece is rejection/shame. Hades is the main focus. He is shameful for  having taking persephone from her mother and now despised himself. Although due to his selfishness and potentially lustful side he is not able to give her back. Persephone is innocence and hopeless of the situation. She has just been told that she is going to be in the underworld for 4 months of the year to a god she never wanted to be with. So its tragedy all around. More updates on this soon.

The resto f the stuff is sketched for the comic pieces im doing for the next comic cons in baltimore and new york to sell. Cant wait!!! Oh and emma frost so far but i hate it so im gonna redo it

latest update

Well this week has been fun. Finally go the chance to go swimming wednesday, first time in 2 years. Bad, I know. But also I started really working on this comic and as far as the initial drawing goes its 1/8 done. That doesn't sound like a lot but I'm not drawing it "like a comic". Its actually ful value sketches and realistic. Plus, drawing a 3 1/2 figure or trying to fit the nose, lips and chin into an 1/8 of an inch can be difficult to say the least. So heres what my plan is for that, full value realistic rendering is 45% of this project, the other 45% is doing watercolor on a photocopy of the drawings and the 10% is word bubbles and color correction.

Comic con is next weekend! Can't wait to go :D

headdress no. 5 and 6 still

so this is what i got so far today, i wasnt trying to paint much because i have plans later and i cant have the paints all over my fingas! However, I will be using the time to write a story that has been my head now for the last few weeks. No details yet obviously, but it maybe a project I start next summer ;)   heres the pics so far from today

Im finished with the Ashley Wood Painting as far as I can take it myself... nah I can still give it another go! The figure feels weird to me. Like hes not grounded, hes just copy and pasted there. So I think I should wait till it dries and then take another crack at the structure, color and maybe the lighting on him.

And now, I have started Headdresses No. 5 and 6. Hopefully this week I will be also shooting 7 and 8. Can't Wait. I have at least 4 shows i'm looking to do this summer so it should be good :) Hopefully I can sell and get rid of a lot of stuff this summer. Its too much. I have at least 30 framed and unframed pieces in my garages, 5 in my room and i think one or two in the living room. Its nuts. anyway, heres my headdresses so far
